Tiana’s Bayou Adventure – What to Expect

Disney finally released an opening date of June 28th, 2024 for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure! Formerly Splash Mountain, this exciting attraction will take you through the bayou to meet Tiana’s funny pals, and perhaps get a little wet along the way.

A little speculation on my part… based on past ride openings, guests visiting Magic Kingdom may have the opportunity to ride prior to this date with soft opening testing. Again – no guarantees, but certainly a possibility.

What should you expect when the ride is officially open? Let’s splash in:

  1. Virtual Queue – For guests who have traveled to Walt Disney World in recent years are already familiar with the VQ system, and seeing it for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure should not come as a surprise. New attractions are especially popular, and while VQ can be a little cutthroat, it is a more manageable system than waiting for 6+ hours in a queue. This will limit how many guests are able to ride in a given day.
  2. Lightning Lane – This ride will be available for purchase as a Lightning Lane under the Genie+ system for a variable daily fee, per guest.
  3. Attraction photo – Guests will be able to capture the moment when you plunge into the depths of the bayou!
  4. Be Prepared to GET WET – for those who experienced Splash Mountain, you already know that the final drop at the end can hit you with a face full of water, or a simple splash from the side of your ride vehicle. Either way, be prepared with a poncho (or feel refreshed in the hot summer air by letting the water take you full on!)
  5. Shop new attraction merchandise
  6. Tiana’s Famous Beignets – available beginning opening day, and for a limited time at the Golden Outpost & Friar’s Nook
